The Right Time to Use Sunscreen

Beauty 2101

Sunscreen is an essential skincare product for protecting the skin from the harmful effects of sunlight. Damaging UV rays can cause skin damage, including premature aging, skin cancer, hyperpigmentation, and other skin problems. Therefore, sunscreen should be an important part of your skincare routine.

However, many people are still confused about when they should use sunscreen. The following are some of the right times to use sunscreen:

Perfect time to use sunscreen

1. When Doing Outdoor Activities

If you do outdoor activities, especially during the day when the sun's rays are the hottest, you need to use sunscreen to protect your skin from UV exposure. Choose a sunscreen with a minimum SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30 and a PA (Protection Grade of UVA) of at least +++ to provide adequate protection.

2. While in a Closed Space

Even if we are in a closed space, such as indoors or under an umbrella, sunlight can still damage our skin. Therefore, the use of sunscreen when indoors or under an umbrella is highly recommended to protect the skin from the sun's harmful rays.

3. When driving

Even in a closed space like a car, UV rays can penetrate window glass and cause skin damage. Therefore, if you are going to drive for a long time, you should also wear sunscreen.

4. When at the Beach or Swimming

We must use water- and sweat-resistant sunscreen when at the beach or swimming. Sunscreen should be applied before swimming and repeated every 80 minutes or more often if needed.

5. When in a Place with a High Altitude

When you are at a high altitude, UV rays can more easily penetrate the layers of the atmosphere and can cause your skin to burn more quickly. Therefore, using sunscreen with a higher SPF is highly recommended when you are on a mountain or a place with a high altitude.

6. When Traveling to Places with a Tropical Climate

If you want to travel to a place with a tropical climate, like Indonesia, then you need to use sunscreen regularly to protect your skin from the hot sun all year round. Choose a sunscreen that is water-resistant and easily absorbed by the skin.

7. While exercising

You must use sunscreen to protect your skin from excessive UV exposure if you often exercise outdoors, such as running or cycling. Choose a sunscreen that is sweat-resistant and does not irritate the skin.

However, remember that using sunscreen is not only when the weather is sunny, or the sun is shining. UV rays can still penetrate clouds or cloudy weather, so you should always use sunscreen even when the weather is not sunny.

And you need to know that using sunscreen should be done every day, especially when you are outdoors or in activities that require exposure to sunlight. Make sure you use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, and apply the sunscreen evenly to all areas of the skin exposed to the sun, including the face, neck, hands, and feet. By using sunscreen regularly, you can help protect your skin from UV damage and keep your skin healthy and looking beautiful.
