Green Vegetables (Lettuce, Spinach, Kale)

Green vegetables tend to be prone to excess moisture. To store it, you can follow the following steps:

  • Wash the vegetables and dry them using paper towels or a salad spinner.
  • Place in a covered glass or plastic container, provide some humidity by adding a little water or placing damp tissue paper around it.
  • Store in the refrigerator at around 0-4°C.

Root Vegetables (Carrots, Beets, Radishes)

Root vegetables generally do better in cool, moist temperatures. Here are tips you can do to store it:

  • Cut off the leaves on root vegetables to prevent them from dehydrating.
  • Store in a plastic container or bag with holes for air ventilation.
  • Place in a cool, dark place, such as the refrigerator, at about 0-10°C (32-50°F).
  • Avoid storing with fruits that produce ethylene gas, as this can hasten ripening.

  • Store in a dry, dark, and well-ventilated place, such as a drawer or basket.
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or excess moisture, which can cause rot.

Rhizome Vegetables (Ginger, Turmeric)

Rhizome vegetables usually require dry, cool storage. Here are tips for storing it:

  • Store in an airtight and waterproof container.
  • Place in a dry, dark, cool place, such as in a cupboard or in a storage area where the temperature is around 10-13°C (50-55°F).
