Your work desk or study table is like a battlefield where you tackle tasks requiring deep thinking. Consequently, the condition and atmosphere of this space can have a direct impact on your productivity. Some people hang pictures of their favorite characters or loved ones in this area to boost their mood and motivation.
Interestingly, a pleasant workspace doesn't necessarily have to be perfectly organized. According to Tim Harford, an economist and author of "The Undercover Economist," A slightly messy or untidy environment can enhance creativity and innovation.

Psychology professors Alex Haslam and Craig Knight conducted an experiment involving different workspaces. They divided participants into four groups, each with a distinct workspace. The first group had a minimalist setup with only a table and chairs. The second group's space was adorned with posters and plants. The third group was allowed to decorate their space freely. The fourth group was given the same freedom but had their settings rearranged by researchers later on.
The experiment revealed an exciting outcome. The participants in the fourth group, whose settings were changed without their consent, experienced a sense of powerlessness, which ultimately hindered their productivity. They felt that control over their workspace had been arbitrarily taken away.
So, feel free to personalize your work desk or study table to enhance your productivity!
