1. Urinary tract infection
Urinary tract infections are the most common cause of diarrhea. This disease occurs when bacteria build up in a person's urinary tract. Women are more susceptible to urinary tract infections because the bacteria prefer a shorter urethra. Symptoms that will occur include frequent urination, a cloudy color or mixed with blood, a bad odor, and fever.
2. Sexually transmitted infections
Sexually transmitted infections, or STDs for short, can affect the health of the urinary tract and ultimately cause pain when urinating. These infections include chlamydia, gonorrhea, and herpes. This condition causes pain when urinating and shows symptoms depending on the disease. For example, herpes will cause blisters in the genital area.

Having a sexually transmitted disease can cause painful urination.
3. Prostate infection
In men, the prostate can experience a short-term bacterial infection called prostate or prostatitis. This disease will cause a person difficult to urinate, especially at night, and tends to feel pain in the bladder, testicles, and penis. Not only that, ejaculation also becomes painful.
4. Kidney stones
Kidney stones are a calcium or uric acid material that builds up and hardens, forming stones in and around the kidneys. Sometimes, these stones can lodge in the area where urine enters the bladder, causing painful urination. Other symptoms include a small amount of urine and a cloudy or red color, resulting in pain in the sides and back.
5. Ovarian cyst
If there is a cyst on the ovary, it can press on the bladder and cause painful urination. The pain level will be higher if the cyst develops on both sides of the ovary, which is close to the bladder. People with this condition will also find it challenging to recognize whether their bladder is empty after urination.
6. Interstitial cystitis
Interstitial cystitis (bladder pain syndrome) is a condition that causes chronic irritation of the bladder and can last up to six weeks or longer without any other underlying infection. This condition can cause a person to urinate frequently but in smaller amounts.
7. Sensitive to chemicals
Each person has a different level of sensitivity. Irritating ingredients are usually found in scented products, such as soaps, vaginal lubricants, scented toilet paper, or creams. Sensitive people tend to be more susceptible to these ingredients, which ultimately cause pain when urinating as irritation occurs.

Pain during urination may occur due to irritation from scented products.
We should not ignore the pain when urinating because there must be an underlying cause. If left unchecked, pain levels can increase over time and interfere with daily life. Therefore, do not hesitate to visit the nearest healthcare facility for examination.
There are many possible causes of pain while urinating. You should consult a doctor if you have never been diagnosed with the above diseases. The same goes if you experience any of these diseases. The goal is that the underlying cause can be treated and treated correctly to reduce the pain during urination.
