Work Life Balance: Apa Kamu Sudah Mencapainya?

Work Life Balance: Have You Achieved It?

Health 1172

Work-life balance means that what you do is on your own terms and no one area takes control of it to the detriment of the rest of your life. In short, there is a balance between your personal life and your work life. The goal is for you to be able to manage stress and burnout, but still fulfill all other aspects of your life and not be overwhelmed by work.

Balance here doesn't necessarily mean that the split between work and personal life is 50:50, but rather that there is no set number to interpret it, as it can change over time. This is because not only do we have a personal and professional life, but there are many other aspects and roles in life.

How do you know?

Work-life balance may be difficult to achieve, but we can strive to be more grounded, keep our personal lives fulfilling, and stay productive at work. On the other hand, the definition of this balance will differ from one person to another. If you have achieved work-life balance, then there are several things that you will feel, namely:

  • You don't feel like your work and personal life are in conflict with each other.

  • You can meet office deadlines without having to work overtime

  • You can eat healthy and nutritionally balanced food and get enough sleep

  • You have plenty of free time to do hobbies and self-development

  • You feel that you have made good use of time to spend with family, friends or your partner

  • You don't feel worried about work when you're not at work

  • You feel productive at work and can achieve your goals of success by not putting your entire identity solely on the job

  • You make good use of your time off

Keep in mind that work-life balance is not rigid and will only be achieved if the reality goes according to the standard list. This is because it is natural for work and personal demands to change over time. This means that what needs to be done to achieve work-life balance will change over time, so we must be able to be flexible.

Personal life is satisfying, but productivity at work is still okay

Signs That Your Life Isn't Balanced

Your life may not be in balance yet and you may have started to feel the symptoms of burnout. Usually, this happens due to chronic stress, perfectionism, and dissatisfaction with work or personal life. What are the signs of burnout to look out for? Here are some of them:

  • Emotional withdrawal from others or from social environments

  • Physical or emotional exhaustion

  • Irritability, irritability, or frequent feelings of sadness

  • Feeling numb or empty

  • Decreased productivity

  • Headaches or stomach aches

Although everyone can feel burnout, it can be used as an opportunity for change. For example, related to priorities (whether they should be changed, reduced, or increased) or other aspects related to personal, professional, or outside of both.

If you still often feel burnout, maybe your life is not balanced yet.

In conclusion, work-life balance is an achievement where you feel there is a balance between your personal life and work life, even other aspects outside of both. People who have achieved this balance will avoid stress, be able to utilize time well for self-development, and maintain productivity at work. What do you think Ladies?
