Umay Shahab's Early Career
Umay Shahab took his first steps into entertainment as a child artist, debuting in the soap opera "Wulan" as Pandu, Wulan's son, in 2006 when he was just six. However, his role as Bobby in "Eneng dan Kaos Kaki Ajaib" in 2007 catapulted him to stardom.
Following the success of "Eneng dan Kaos Kaki Ajaib," which firmly established his name, Umay Shahab continued to grace the screens in various soap operas, including "Cahaya" (2007), "Upik Abu dan Laura" (2008), "Isabella" (2009), and many more.
In addition to his television work, Umay Shahab made appearances in several Indonesian films, including "The Tarix Jabrix 2" (2009) as Batjox, "Danur 3: Sunyaruri" as Anton, and the Indonesian drama film "Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini " (2020) as Uya.
Venturing into Music
In 2009, Umay Shahab embarked on a journey into the music world by releasing an "Umay" album distributed through KFC. The album featured the hit song "SKJ," with its melody adapted from "Lupa-lupa Ingat" by the Kuburan Band. The album was a tremendous success, selling over 250 thousand copies and earning a triple platinum award.
Umay Shahab's debut album earned him the AMI Award for Best Male Child Solo Artist and the AMI Award for Best Children's Album at the 14th Indonesian Music Awards. He released two singles, "Happy Family" in July 2014 and "Sudahlah" in February 2015.
Directorial Debut
Umay Shahab took his first steps into directing with a short film titled "Cinta Dibalik Awan" in 2016. In 2019, he directed and wrote the script for the "Menggapai Awan" web series, which was broadcast on a YouTube channel.
Umay Shahab then debuted as a feature film director with "Kukira Kau Rumah." The film addresses the critical issue of mental health, particularly bipolar disorder, portrayed by the talented actress Prilly Latuconsina in the role of Niskala.
